Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Today on our 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter we're going to be installing the Tow Ready Upgraded Circuit Protected Modulite with 4 Pole Harness, part number 119179KIT. We're going to begin here by first opening up both of the rear doors of the vehicle. Now we've already gone and determined that the taillights are actually three wire system because the top light here is the brake light, the middle light here is the turn signal and this section right here is actually the running light. We're going to need to remove the light assembly from the vehicle by removing this screw here, here, and there. Go ahead and take our plastic trim panel tool here just work it in behind the light to release the snaps, the clips, that hold it in place. In order to get the light plug out here you're going to need to . there's a little locking tab on the top and bottom. Just take a little flat head screw driver and just kind of push it in as you work the tab outward. more

We'll also need to remove the carpet cover that covers up the spare tire lid as well as any other covers that might be in the way here. In this case, the hard cover we we're able to just use the hook and hold it up out of place. We'll first remove the threshold here. There's not much really to bolt to, so we're going to run some holes through the plastic and use some fender washers on the inside to help secure it. We'll just go ahead and line it up with the existing form of the plastic, and we'll go ahead and drill a couple of hole. We'll be using a 3/16" drill bit. We're going to need to get behind our panel as well, so we'll go ahead and loosen all the fasteners across the front and one on the side here to give us some working room. There's also one plastic rivet that we have to remove. more
